Your Journey at BPC: What to Expect

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. To make the process as clear as possible, we follow a simple three-step path to help you settle in.
1

The Initial Consultation
Before committing to regular work, we begin with a free 20-minute introductory session. This isn’t a full therapy session yet; it’s a space for us to meet.
What happens: We discuss what brings you here and what you hope to change.
The Goal: To see if my psychodynamic approach aligns with your needs and if you feel comfortable talking with me. There is no obligation to continue if it doesn't feel like the right match.
2

Creating Your Regular Space
If we decide to work together, we will agree on a recurring weekly 50-minute time slot that is yours alone.
What happens: Consistency is vital in psychodynamic work. Having a "protected hour" each week creates the psychological safety needed to explore deeper emotions.
The Goal: To establish you into the therapeutic process where your mind feels safe enough to wander, reflect, and uncover patterns that are usually hidden by the busyness of daily life.
3

The Therapeutic Process
This is where the heart of our work happens. In these open-ended sessions, we move at your pace, exploring the unique threads of your story. We will have regular reviews during this process to ensure our work continues to feel meaningful and aligned with your personal growth.
What happens: We use "free association"—you bring whatever is on your mind, whether it’s a dream, a recent conflict, or a childhood memory. Together, we look for the "undercurrents" in your story.
The Goal: Over time, you will gain a deeper understanding of why you feel and act the way you do. This insight leads to lasting change, better relationships, and a stronger sense of self.
